The Spanish Prophet Abraham Abulafia was born in 1241 in Zaragoza (he died in 1291), or more precisely: he went missing without news on the Maltese island. Exactly 606 years later in 1897 he was born in Poland near Rawa Maz. In Ossa (Kości) the Polish Prophet Jan Zieja (died in 1991). I highly recommend the movie “Zieja”.
Abulafia wanted to convert to Judaism of the Pope himself, and to this end he made a personal pilgrimage to Rome, where the Pope was already waiting for him impatiently with a specially prepared to greet the pile, but strangely the Pope suddenly died and Abulafia miraculously did not burn down). Father Zieja wanted to preach the Gospel to the Followers of Judaism and studied Judaism specifically for this purpose. The fact that there are prophets has fascinated me for a long time. My fascination turned into happiness when I learned that what the prophet knows and preaches, however, stands lower in the hierarchy of merit than studying the Torah (Laws). It is important to study law. I recommend an unusual book “Prophets” – A. J. Heschel. It is astonishing that a certain group of people listens once a week on a Sunday to a reading from a Prophetic Book, such as Isaiah. What has to do with our life here in Europe, the Prophet who lived almost 3,000 years ago there. C.H. Dodd explains this wonderfully in “The Founder of Christianity.”
