Something about

Experience in lawsuits – as I think in any field – is something irreplaceable and at the same time difficult to handle. It is not known when the lawyer is already experienced. When I was an apprentice, I often received a case file from a patron with a simple command: “Check if there’s anything wrong?” I didn’t know how to do it. However, I understood this command in such a way that I have to see if there is something in the case that is just not visible. However, I did not know how to see things that i can not see, because they are not underlined with a red marker and do not contain a comment on the margins of the file.

To see SOMETHING IN THE CASE, you need a special kind of vision that experienced lawyers have. It became clear to me from the very beginning that there is something in almost every case, but I can’t see it. When I gained some experience after many years, I myself began to turn to younger COLLEAGUES with the same instruction: “Check if there is SOMETHING IN THE CASE”. It happened at times that the younger lawyer quickly carded the file and came back to me after only a few hours and declared with unwavering certainty that he had not found anything.

As if he was looking for a piece of paper in the file that read, “SOMETHING’s GOING ON,” and truthfully vouched for him not to find it there.
