Prof. L. Kołakowski wrote “Mainstream Marxism” so occupyingly that when I read, I could not be surprised that I am not yet a Marxist. As you know Prof. Kołakowski changed his religion and began to write a lot about Christianity. Prof. Jan Legowicz went the other way: first he was ordained in the Order of the Bernardines, and later he left the order and after a while joined the PZPR. Prof. Kołakowski – among many excellent books – also wrote: “What great philosophers ask us”. In the last chapter, he wrote something like this: “I wondered who to put as the last philosopher in this book. For a while I thought it should be L. Wittgenstein. But i just said, “I DON’T KNOW WHAT THIS PHILOSOPHER WAS ALL ABOUT.” Prof.B. Wolniewicz, by contrast, adored the thesis of L. Wittgenstein.
Such divergences in the views of philosophers make you think. It is necessary to refer with DISTRUST to legal theories that are blind to life. They need to be confronted with FACTS. The reasons for the judgments too. Marxism is not involved when one reads “The Gulag Archipelago” In a lecture on the history of doctrine, we have long discussed the views of J. J. Russo. We did not say anything about Mr Voglin and his: “Franco-French genocide” and nothing about Mr. Jasienica and: “Reflections on anarchy”. Nothing about FACTS.
