Thank you Lord …

When J. M. Bochenski listened to a church song as a child, he could not understand why the faithful sing to God: “Thank you Lord, we are snowmen…”. It was only after some time when he was older that he realized that the lyrics of the song continued: “Thank you Lord, that we have crossed the Snowmen of the Red Sea thanks to your care with a dry foot.” Sometimes I fear if there is indeed a continuation in my personal song. Surely it does not end with the very thank you and the word “snowman”.

And there is no Red Sea? The consolation is this: “A trait whose name is humility is rooted in the very depths of Deity” (Eckhart). Perhaps there must be no Red Sea. “The absence of my “me” – often paradoxically – indicates a lack of modesty. Whoever omits them falls into a sovereign tone” (F. Variilon). So W. Gombrowicz was not immodest, because he constantly wrote about himself: ” Monday – me. Tuesday – me. Wednesday – me.” Quite the contrary? Bring back gombrowicz’s mandatory reading?. I encourage you to read. And even more to the theater: “Wedding”, “Cosmos”, “Journal”. Do not start with a mandatory reading of “Ferdydurke”. The abolition of the mandatory reading ” Ferdydurke” is a gift of Providence to the Greatness of Gombrowicz.
